SUMMARY

When you use the Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet 4/4M printer driver (HPPCL5E.DRV) version 31.1.03 for Windows version 3.1, you can select either MultiPurpose (MP) Tray or Manual Feed for the Paper Source option. The printer behaves differently depending on which source you select.

MORE INFORMATION

If you select MP Tray for the Paper Source, the LaserJet 4 first checks to see if there is any paper in the MP Tray. If there is paper in the tray, the printer pulls the paper from the MP Tray; if not, it pulls the paper from the Default Tray. The printer does not prompt you to insert more paper if you have the MP Tray selected as the Paper Source.

If you select Manual Feed for the Paper Source, the LaserJet 4 pauses before it prints the page, prompting you to insert paper in the MP Tray with the message "MF Feed Letter." Insert the paper and press the Online button on the printer to print the page.
