How to Print Merge Envelopes to the Panasonic KX-P4410 Printer

SYMPTOMS

If you use the Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet Series IIP Plus printer driver to print merge envelopes on a Panasonic KX-P4410 printer, the first envelope prints correctly. The remaining envelopes either feed incorrectly or they print in the wrong position.


CAUSE

This happens because in HP LaserJet IIP Plus emulation mode, the Panasonic KX-P4410 printer center feeds envelopes, which is inconsistent with the IIP Plus.


WORKAROUND

To print merge envelopes on the Panasonic KX-P4410 printer, use the HP LaserJet Series II printer driver instead. To avoid time-out problems with the manual paper feed, do the following:

  1. Place the envelope in the tray before you send the print merge command.


  2. Press the Online button soon after the printer displays the manual feed message.

Use the following steps to print merge envelopes on the Panasonic KX- P4410 printer:

NOTE: You should use Word version 2.0a or later to print envelopes correctly on this printer. To obtain new or updated Microsoft products, call Microsoft Sales Information Center (MSIC) at (800) 426-9400. If you are outside the United States, contact the Microsoft subsidiary for your area.

  1. From the File menu, choose Print Setup. From the Printer list, select HP LaserJet Series II and choose the OK button.


  2. From the Tools menu, choose Options. Under the Print category, make sure the Printer's Envelope Feeder Has Been Installed option is not selected. Choose the OK button.


  3. Use the Tools Create Envelope command to create the envelope. Insert the address information and then choose the Add To Document button.


  4. Place the envelope in the manual paper feed slot. The envelope should be face up, with the top edge of the envelope parallel to the front of the printer.


  5. Start the print merge operation.


  6. When the "SC Load Envelope U13" message displays on the printer, press the Online button. The printer message changes to "Online" and the envelope feeds. During printing, the Online button flashes on the printer. After printing the envelope, any additional pages print. While the last page prints, the "SC Load Envelope U13" message reappears.


  7. Wait until the last page has finished printing and the Online light stops blinking. Then place the next envelope in the manual paper feed slot.


  8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 until the print merge operation is complete.
