  • Microsoft Windows versions 3.0, 3.0a, 3.1, 3.11
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, version 3.0
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.1a, 2.0, 2.0a, 2.0a-CD, 2.0b, 2.0c, 2.0c-CD

SYMPTOMS

You may be unable to print linked or embedded Microsoft Excel charts in color to a Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet 500C or 550C printer. Solid colors in the chart may print as black. This problem occurs if you are using version 3.0 of the HP DeskJet driver (DESKJETC.DRV).

RESOLUTION

To correct this problem, you must add the line "pagescan=no" to the [Statdll] section in the WIN.INI file. To do this, use the following steps:

  1. Use a text editor to open the WIN.INI file.

  2. Search for the section [Statdll]. If you do not find it, add the heading [Statdll] to the file.

  3. Add the line pagescan=no to this section.

  4. Save the WIN.INI file.

  5. Quit and restart Windows.

After you edit the WIN.INI file and restart Windows, you should be able to print your embedded or linked Microsoft Excel charts in color.
