SYMPTOMSIf you close a 16-bit program that is listed as not responding in the Close Program dialog box and then restart the program, you may receive a general protection (GP) fault error message. CAUSEWhen you close a program normally, the program's dynamic-link libraries (DLLs) are unloaded from memory. When you use the Close Program dialog box to close a program that is not responding, the program's DLLs are not unloaded and are not reinitialized properly when you restart the program.
