SYMPTOMSWhen you attempt to change the display resolution on a Gateway 2000 Destination TV/Computer, the only resolution available is 640 X 480. CAUSEThe Windows 98 virtual display driver (VDD) determines the available resolutions by checking the monitor's Extended Identification Data (EDID). The EDID for the Gateway 2000 Destination's monitor lists only 640 x 480 and 720 x 400 resolutions. Because 720 x 400 is not a valid display resolution, 640 x 480 is the only display resolution available. MORE INFORMATIONWindows 95 uses the Monitor.inf file and the display driver's .inf file to determine the highest available resolution. Windows 98 uses the monitor's EDID to determine the highest available resolution. Additional query words: resolution limit
