SYMPTOMSWhen you start Windows Explorer, click a folder, and then click Delete on the File menu, you may not be warned about deleting read-only or system files that may be in this folder. CAUSEThis behavior can occur because Windows 98 ignores the file attributes of all files in a folder when you choose to delete the folder. STATUSThis behavior is by design. MORE INFORMATIONNote that this behavior does not occur if you open a folder, select a file or multiple files, and then click Delete on the File menu. If you do so, and the folder contains read-only or system files, you receive the following warning message:
