SYMPTOMSWhen you attempt to use Microsoft Phone version 1.0 to receive incoming faxes using Microsoft Fax, you may see an "Initializing Modem" message, and then nothing may happen. CAUSEThis behavior can occur if you are using a Sound III 336SP modem on a Packard Bell computer. RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, install the original OEM drivers for your modem. To
obtain the original OEM drivers, contact Packard Bell or visit the

By default, Microsoft Fax is not installed in Windows 98. However, it
is available in the following folder on the Windows 98 CD-ROM
<drive>:\tools\oldwin95\message\us where <drive> is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive. Additional query words: ms phone msphone
