Registry Checker Does Not Back Up Additional Files

ID: Q187321

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows 98

SYMPTOMS

When you configure the Windows 98 Registry Checker tool to back up additional files, the files may not be backed up.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when you do not capitalize the first letter of the "Files=" setting in the Scanreg.ini file.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, capitalize the first letter of the word "Files." The remaining letters of the word "Files" must be lowercase letters. For example, to configure the Registry Checker tool to back up the Autoexec.bat and Config.sys files, add the following line to the Scanreg.ini file:

   Files=30,config.sys,autoexec.bat
