Cannot Use DELTREE Command to Remove Folder in MS-DOS Mode

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to use the DELTREE command to delete a folder with a path whose length exceeds 67 characters in MS-DOS mode, the folder may not be removed.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because you can create a path length of up to 259 characters in Windows, but the MS-DOS-mode file system does not support a folder path length that exceeds 67 characters.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, delete the folder using Windows. For information about how to delete a folder using Windows, click Start, click Help, click the Index tab, type delete, and then double- click the "files or folders" topic.

If you are using Windows 98 double-click the "deleting files, folders" topic.
