SYMPTOMSWhen you attempt to put Windows 98 into Standby mode, your computer may stop responding (hang). CAUSEThis behavior can occur if you install Novell Client32 version 2.2.0 or earlier in Windows 98. RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, use either of the following methods:
Method 1Use the System File Checker tool to extract an updated version of the Vmlid.nlm file from your original Windows 98 disks or CD-ROM to the Novell\Client32 folder. Windows 98 includes the latest version of the Vmlid.nlm file. If you
upgrade Windows 95 with Novell Client32 to Windows 98, the Vmlid.nlm file
is updated. If you install Novell Client32 after Windows 98 is installed,
the earlier version of the Vmlid.nlm file is used.
