SYMPTOMSIf you are using a first-generation Creative DVD kit or MKE DVD kit, the kit may not work properly with Windows 98. For example, you may no longer be able to write to the drive. CAUSEThese DVD kits rely on the Compact Disc File System (CDFS), but Windows 98 loads the Universal Disk Format file system (UDF) by default for DVD drives. RESOLUTION
To work around this behavior, disable UDF for DVD drives. To do so, follow
these steps:
MORE INFORMATIONThis behavior does not occur with later versions of Creative DVD kits. The DXR2 kit works correctly with UDF.
