Error Message During Windows 98 Setup with SparQ Parallel Port Drive

SYMPTOMS

If you have a SyQuest SparQ drive connected to a parallel port on your computer, you may receive a "Fatal error" error message during the hardware detection portion of Windows 98 Setup.


CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you are using version 1.29 of SyQuest's Epathd.mpd driver. The issue does not occur with version 1.3 of this driver.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact SyQuest to obtain the latest version of the Epathd.mpd driver.

If you are unable to obtain the current version of the Epathd.mpd driver, disconnect the SparQ drive from the parallel port. The error message does not occur if the drive is not connected.
