SYMPTOMSAfter you upgrade your computer to Windows 98, there may be fewer display settings available for your display adapter in Display properties. CAUSEThis behavior can occur if a generic display driver is selected for your display adapter. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, contact the manufacturer of your display adapter to obtain a Windows 98-compatible driver for your display adapter. MORE INFORMATION
Windows 98 includes generic video drivers for common display adapter chip
sets. A generic driver is used when a driver for a specific display
adapter is not available. The generic video drivers support the most
common features and display resolutions available for each chip set.
Therefore, some display settings may not be available when you use a
generic video driver.
