Kodak Imaging Does Not Start or You Receive an Error Message

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to start the Kodak Imaging tool included with Windows 98, it may not start, and you may receive one of the following error messages:

Error starting program, the IMGCMN.DLL file is linked to missing export MFC42.DLL:6453.
-or-
Error starting program, the ANNCLIST.EXE file is linked to missing export MFC42.DLL:6453.


CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you run the installation program for the Kodak DC120 digital camera from the CD-ROM included with the camera. The installation program overwrites the Mfc42.dll file with an earlier version that is not compatible with Kodak Imaging.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, remove and then reinstall Kodak Imaging. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.


  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs, and then click the Windows Setup tab.


  3. Click Accessories, and then click Details.


  4. Click the Imaging check box to clear it, click OK, and then click Apply.


  5. Click Accessories, and then click Details.


  6. Click the Imaging check box to select it, click OK, and then click OK again.

This behavior does not occur if you use the drivers for the Kodak DC120 digital camera included with Windows 98.
