SYMPTOMSWhen you view your Windows 98-based computer's Musical Instrument Device Interface (MIDI) output devices in Multimedia properties, a default MIDI output device may be missing from the Single Instrument box. Note that you may still be able to play MIDI files. CAUSEThis issue can occur if you replace the Windows 98 Windows Driver Model (WDM) driver for your sound card with a virtual device driver (VxD) for your sound card. RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, manually configure your default MIDI output device.
