SYMPTOMSWhen you try to play an MS-DOS-based game with sounds after you upgrade to Windows 98, you may not hear any sounds. CAUSEThis issue can occur if your sound card is using a Windows Driver Model (WDM) driver, the MS-DOS-based game is using Sound Blaster Emulation, and this game is using Sound Blaster FM Synthesis for music playback. Sound Blaster Emulation does not support FM synthesis. RESOLUTIONTo work around this issue, configure your game to use General MIDI (0x330) for music instead of FM Synthesis.
