SYMPTOMS

When you try to copy a file with a long file name to a RAMDrive larger than 10 megabytes (MB), you may receive the following error message:

The destination does not support long file names. Please enter a name for this file.

If you then try to rename this file, you may not be able to use a long file name.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods:

Do Not Use Long File Names with Your RAMDrive

If possible, do not try to copy a file with a long file name to a RAMDrive larger than 10 MB.

Reduce the Size of the RAMDrive

A RAMDrive that is smaller than 10 MB should not exhibit this behavior. If possible, reduce the size of your RAMDrive until it is smaller than 10 MB.
