Version Conflict When Installing TCP/IP

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows 98
  • Microsoft Personal Web Server version 1.0a for Windows 95

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to install Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), you may receive the following message:

A file being copied is older than the one currently on your system.


The file referenced by the message is the Svrapi.dll file.


CAUSE

This message can occur if you install Personal Web Server 1.0a, remove TCP/IP, restart your computer, and then attempt to add TCP/IP.


RESOLUTION

Click No when you receive the message. This allows the correct file to be copied.
