To configure the Direct Cable Connection tool for optimal performance
across a serial-port connection, configure your Serial Cable device in
Device Manager to a high speed. To do so, use the following steps:
NOTE: The following procedure must be performed on both the Host and the
Client computers.
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click System, click the Device Manager tab, double-click the
Modems branch to expand it, click Serial Cable On COM<serial port
number> where <serial port number> is the number of the COM port to
which the serial cable is connected, and then click Properties.
- Click the Modem tab, and then configure the Maximum Speed up to
115,200.
- Click OK, click OK, and then restart your computer.
