Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD).

Using Registry Editor, view the BIOSDate, BIOSName, and BIOSVersion string values in the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\Root\*PNP0C01\0000

This information is accurate only if you have not updated or changed the BIOS since you last ran Windows 95/98 Setup.
