SYMPTOMSWhen you attempt to install Windows 98 on your computer, Windows 98 Setup may stop responding (hang) during the file copy process. You may be able to regain use of your computer by pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE, clicking "Setup (not responding)," and then clicking End Task. CAUSE
This behavior can occur if Setup is unable to accurately calculate the
total amount of free space on the drive on which you want to install
Windows 98. This may be caused by third-party programs that report the
actual free space on the drive incorrectly. RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, you need to free enough space on the hard disk to
install Windows 98.
ARTICLE-ID: Q186102 After you uninstall Windows 98, free the necessary amount of disk space to properly complete the installation of Windows 98 by uninstalling unnecessary programs and deleting unnecessary files or folders. For information about how to delete files and folders in Windows 95, click Start, click Help, click the Index tab, type "delete" (without quotation marks), and then double-click the "Files or Folders" topic. If you are using Windows 98, double-click the "Deleting Files, Folders" topic.
