Problems Viewing Java Programs with NetZip Installed

SYMPTOMS
When you use Internet Explorer to view a Web page that contains a
java-based program, you may be unable to see the java-based program.
Instead, you may see an empty box where the program should be. Also, if
you try to reinstall the Microsoft Virtual Machine for Java, you may
receive the following error message:
Explorer
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you then click Details, you may receive the following error message:
Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module
msjava.dll@<memory address>
CAUSE
This issue can occur if the NetZip program is installed on your computer
and is configured to start automatically when you start your computer.
RESOLUTION
IMPORTANT: This article contains information about editing the registry.
Before you edit the registry, make sure you understand how to restore it
if a problem occurs. For information about how to do this, view the
"Restoring the Registry" Help topic in Regedit.exe or the "Restoring a
Registry Key" Help topic in Regedt32.exe.
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that
may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot
guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry
Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys
And Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and
Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics
in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit
it.
To resolve this issue, contact NetZip to inquire about the availability of
a fix for this issue.
To work around this issue, configure NetZip to not start automatically
when you start your computer. To do so, use the appropriate method:
Windows 98
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Taskbar And Start Menu.
- Click the Start Menu Programs tab, and then click Remove.
- Double-click Startup, click NetZIPFolders, and then click Remove.
- Click Close, click OK, and then restart your computer.
Windows 95
- Use Registry Editor to delete the NetZIPFolders value under the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run
- Restart your computer.
