SYMPTOMSAfter you restore files from a full Windows 98 system backup, the Windows NT Dual Boot menu may not be displayed. CAUSEA hard disk failure can cause a loss of the system partition information in the Master Boot Record (MBR) on the hard disk. When you use the SYS command as part of the Windows 98 System Recovery process, the SYS command replaces the Windows NT system files with Windows 98 system files. This can also occur with Restore.exe. RESOLUTION
To restore the Windows NT Dual Boot menu, you can use the Windows NT Setup
disks to repair the system files after restoring your backup files.
Replacing the Windows 98 system files with the Windows NT Flex Boot Loader
restores dual-boot functionality with Windows 98.
