"DriveSpace Alarm 11" During Windows 98 Setup

SYMPTOMS
During Windows 98 Setup, you may receive the following error message:
DriveSpace alarm 11. A program has corrupted memory belonging to
DriveSpace.
After you receive this error message, your computer may stop responding
(hang).
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
- Restart your computer. Press and hold down the CTRL key until the
Windows 98 Startup menu appears, and then choose Safe Mode Command
Prompt Only.
- Edit the Config.sys file to verify that it contains these lines:
Device=c:\windows\himem.sys
Device=c:\windows\emm386.exe x=A000-F7FF noems
dos=high, umb
rem DeviceHigh=c:\windows\command\drvspace.sys /move
NOTE: If the Config.sys file contains the line
"Devicehigh=c:\windows\command\drvspace.sys /move" place a REM
statement at the beginning of the line to disable the line.
- Restart the computer.
