Error Message: Run-Time Error '429' OLE Automation Server Can't Create Object

SYMPTOMS

When you insert the Microsoft Note-It CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive to start Note-It Setup, you may receive the following error message:

Run-time error '429' OLE Automation Server can't create object.


CAUSE

This issue can occur because the Microsoft Windows version of the Oleaut32.dll file that is installed on the computer is not compatible with the Oleaut32.dll file that Note-It attempts to install on the computer.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, disable the Auto insert notification feature for the CD-ROM drive, and then run the Setup.exe program on the Note-It CD-ROM. To disable the Auto insert notification feature, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.


  2. On the Device Manager tab, double-click CDROM, and then double-click the CD-ROM driver entry.


  3. On the Settings tab, click to clear the Auto insert notification check box.


  4. Click OK until you return to Control Panel.


  5. When you are prompted to restart your computer, click Yes.
