Screen Does Not Redraw Properly After Starting Macromedia Director 5

SYMPTOMS

After you start Macromedia Director 5, the color palette and other desktop items may not redraw properly.


CAUSE

This issue can occur if you use a 16-bit or higher color depth and you have an S3 ViRGE video adapter and driver installed on your computer.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact S3 to obtain the latest video driver or configure the color depth to use 256 colors. To configure your screen to use 256 colors, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.


  2. Double-click the Display tool, and then click the Settings tab.


  3. In the Colors box, click 256 Colors, and then click OK.
