Philips DVX8000 May Hang the Computer When Playing DVDs

SYMPTOMS

When you use the DVX8000 Multimedia Home Theater device by Philips Electronics to play a DVD, your computer may stop responding (hang).


CAUSE

This issue can occur if the Universal Disk Format (UDF) file system is enabled on the computer.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, disable the UDF file system. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, click Run, type msconfig in the Open box, and then click OK.


  2. On the General tab, click Advanced.


  3. Click to select the Disable UDF file system check box, click OK, click OK again, and then click Yes to restart the computer.
