Dial-Up Networking Does Not Sort Locations Alphabetically

SYMPTOMS

In the Dial-Up Networking connection dialog box the dialing locations are not sorted alphabetically. The connections are sorted alphabetically in the Dialing Properties information box.


CAUSE

This issue can occur because the current sort method in this dialog box adds new connections at the bottom of the list.


RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows 98 OSR1 service pack that contains this fix.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Windows 98 Second Edition.
