SYMPTOMSAfter you upgrade to Windows 98 Second Edition, your computer may stop responding (hang) at the "Windows Is Shutting Down" screen. CAUSEThis behavior can occur if your computer contains an Intel AL440LX motherboard and uses Phoenix BIOS version P07. This BIOS for the Intel AL440LX motherboard does not allow the computer to shut down properly. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, upgrade your computer to the latest BIOS (version P12 or later).
