GP Fault Using Adobe FrameMaker and the Calculator Tool

SYMPTOMS

When you start Adobe FrameMaker 5.5, or drag the Calc.exe file onto a FrameMaker document window, you may receive a general protection (GP) fault.


CAUSE

This issue can occur if you are using FrameMaker to load Adobe Type Manager (ATM) fonts and you are using one of the Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet 5Si printer drivers that is included with the printer.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods:

Install the Appropriate Printer Drivers

To install the appropriate printer drivers, follow these steps: Install one of the HP LaserJet 5Si (4Si in Windows 95) printer drivers included with Windows:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Printers.


  2. Double-click Add Printer, click Next, click Local Printer, and then click Next.


  3. In the Manufacturers box, click HP.


  4. In the Printers box, click the appropriate 5Si (4Si in Windows 95) printer, and then click Next.


  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the Add Printer wizard.


NOTE: Windows 95 does not include HP LaserJet 5Si printer drivers. However, you can install the HP LaserJet 4Si, 4Si MX, or 4Si/4SiMX PS printer drivers that are included with Windows 95.
