Monitor Turns Off While a DVD Movie Is Playing

SYMPTOMS

When you are watching a DVD movie, your monitor may turn off.


CAUSE

This issue can occur if you are using Advanced Power Management (APM) and the DVD player program you are using is not designed to work with APM.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact the manufacturer to see if there is a APM-aware program for your DVD player or disable APM for your monitor.

To disable APM for your monitor, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Power Management.


  2. On the Power Schemes tab, click Never in the Turn off monitor box.


  3. Click OK.
