SYMPTOMSWhen you attempt to use the Registration wizard to register Windows 98, you may receive the following error message:
CAUSEThis error message can occur if there is a number in the "For long distance calls, dial" or the "For local calls, dial" box in the Dialing properties for the modem. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue:
MORE INFORMATIONWhen the Registration wizard tries to call using the modem, it attempts to dial any number in the Dialing properties boxes. For example, if you have the number "1" in one of the boxes, instead of the Registration wizard dialing the number as 1-800-999-5698, it attempts to dial the number as 11-800-999-5698.
