Windows 98 Stops Responding While Running AutoCAD 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you run AutoCAD 2000 or AutoCAD LT 2000 on your Windows 98-based computer, your computer may stop responding (hang).


CAUSE

This behavior can occur when locked non-cache pages are not correctly released by Windows while running programs that try to obtain access to a file that has already been loaded into memory.


RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem.

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Monitor.
