Invalid Password After Configuring Remote Desktop Sharing in NetMeeting

SYMPTOMS
After you configure Remote Desktop Sharing (RDS), you may experience either of the following issues:
- You may not be able to connect using Remote Desktop Sharing because the correct password may be invalid.
- You may not be able to change the Remote Desktop Sharing password because the old password does not work, even if it is typed correctly.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur when NetBIOS for the TCP/IP protocol is not enabled and the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) connection is not active.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, use the following steps:
Step 1: Uninstall NetMeeting
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- On the Install/Uninstall tab, click NetMeeting 3.01, and then click Add/Remove.
- Click Yes to uninstall NetMeeting, click OK, and then click Yes to restart the computer.
Step 2: Make Sure One of the Following Pre-Conditions Is Met
- If Client for Microsoft Networks or Microsoft Family Logon is installed, make sure the TCP connection is active (connected to the Internet or Intranet).
- If Client for Microsoft Networks or Microsoft Family Logon is not installed, use the appropriate method.
Method 1: Install Client for Microsoft Networks
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network.
- On the Configuration tab, click Add, click Client, click Add, click Microsoft in the Manufacturers box, click Client for Microsoft Networks in the Network Clients box, and then click OK.
- Click OK, insert the Windows 98 CD-ROM when you are prompted to do so, and then click Yes when you are prompted to restart the computer.
- Make sure the TCP connection is active (connected to the Internet or Intranet).
Method 2: Enable NetBIOS for the TCP/IP Protocol
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network.
- On the Configuration tab, click TCP/IP, and then click Properties.
- In the TCP/IP Properties dialog box, click NetBIOS, click I want to enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP, click OK, and then click OK.
NOTE: Click Yes if you receive the following message:
Your network is not complete. Do you want to continue?
- Click Yes when you are prompted to restart the computer.
- Make sure the TCP connection is active (connected to the Internet or Intranet).
Step 3: Reinstall NetMeeting
