This article lists the tape backup units supported by the Microsoft Backup program included with Windows 98.

The Backup program included with Windows 98 supports the following tape backup units:

  • 8mm
  • 3010 and 3010 Wide
  • 3020 and 3020 Wide
  • DAT (DDS1 and 2)
  • DC 6000
  • DLT
  • QIC 80 and 80 Wide
  • TR1,2,3 and 4 (Travan)
  • Removable media (floppy disks, Iomega Jaz or SyQuest cartridges)
You can use the Backup program included with Windows 98 to restore a backup that you made using the Backup utility included with Windows 95, but you cannot restore a backup that you made using the MS-DOS Backup utility included with MS-DOS 6.x or earlier.

NOTE: The Backup program included with Windows 98 may work with other tape backup units that are not listed in this article.
