Installing NetMeeting 2.1x Removes NetMeeting 3 Setup Option

SYMPTOMS

If you uninstall Microsoft NetMeeting 3.01 and install NetMeeting 2.1x, there is no longer a NetMeeting 3 check box to reinstall NetMeeting in the Communications section on the Windows Setup tab in the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue:

1. Click Start, click Run, type sfc, and then click OK to start the System File Checker tool.



2. Click Extract one file from installation disk, and then type msnetmtg.inf to extract the file from the Windows 98 CD-ROM.



3. Click Start, choose to extract the file from the Windows 98 CD-ROM to a temporary folder (do not extract to the INF folder), click OK, and then click Close.



4. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.



5. Click the Windows Setup tab, click Have Disk, browse to the location to which you extracted the file, and then click OK.



6. Click NetMeeting, click Install, and then click OK.



7. Restart the computer.
