Norton AntiVirus 2000 Detects WM.Niceday Macro Virus When Installing Microsoft Virtual Machine

SYMPTOMS

When you install a current release of the Microsoft Virtual Machine (VM) such as build 3186 or 3188, you receive an alert from Norton AntiVirus 2000 about a "WM.Niceday Macro Virus", but "with a different, harmless payload macro", in Xmldso.cab (XML classes that ship in the Microsoft VM).


CAUSE

This issue occurs because of a problem with the Norton AntiVirus 2000 program (not the virus definitions).


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact Symantec to inquire about the availability of a fix for this issue.

To work around this issue, click "Ignore the problem and continue" when you receive the Norton AntiVirus Alert.
