Plug and Play Installation of IrDA Devices May Not Work

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to use an Infrared Data Association (IrDA) device in Windows 98 Second Edition, the device may not be detected as a Plug and Play device when you place it within range of the IrDA sensor, even though the Infrared tool in Control Panel indicates that a device is within range.


RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem.
