SYMPTOMSWhen you attempt to install the IBM 16/4 Token-Ring PCI Adapter 2 with Wake on LAN in a localized Polish version of Windows 98 Second Edition, you receive the following error message:
CAUSEThis issue occurs because the Version value in the following registry key uses the value data System Windows 98 in the Polish version of Windows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersionThe IBM driver installation software parses this registry key to determine the version of Windows. It looks for the the value data Windows 98 in the Version value. RESOLUTIONWARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that
may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot
guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor
