FTP Fails with File Names Larger than 72 Characters

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to use a GET or MGET command in Windows NT File Transfer Protocol (FTP) on a file with a filename larger than 72 characters, the following error message appears and drops you out of FTP and back to the command line:

An application error has occurred And an application error log is being generated.

FTP.EXE


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.5. This problem was corrected in Windows NT version 3.51.
