How to Create Macintosh Volumes in Windows NT 4.0

In Windows NT 3.51, File Manager is used to create and modify Macintosh- accessible volumes. In Windows NT 4.0, Explorer does not have any menu items or clickable selections to accomplish this.

Server Manager Method

  1. Open Server Manager


  2. Select the correct Domain, if necessary, by choosing File, Select Domain.


  3. Choose the computer on which you want the Macintosh volume created by clicking it. Its network name in the list should have the focus and be highlighted.


  4. Choose MacFile from the menu bar.


  5. Choose Volumes


Click the Create Volume button for a new volume, or Properties to edit an existing one.

File Manager Method

The File Manager program from Windows NT 3.51 is present in version 4.0. To access it, click Start, then choose Programs, Administrative Tools, and File Manager, or else click Start, then choose Run, type "winfile.exe," and click OK. The MacFile option will be on the menu bar.
