Unable To Save Powerpoint Files Using GSNW

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to save a Powerpoint 7.0 file to a NetWare server using Gateway Services for NetWare (GSNW), the following error message appears:

The name '<drive>:\<filename>' is invalid on an 8.3 file system. One of its components is too long or it contains an invalid character. '/\:?*<>|[]+=;,' are invalid.


RESOLUTION

To correct this problem, upgrade to Windows NT 3.51 Service Pack 4.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.51. This problem was corrected in the latest Windows NT 3.51 U.S. Service Pack. For information on obtaining the Service Pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
