SYMPTOMSWindows NT cannot access the disk in the ATAPI version of an Iomega Zip drive. CAUSEWindows NT identifies the ATAPI version of the Iomega Zip drive as a floppy disk drive and assigns it the first available floppy disk drive letter (usually B). This problem does not occur with the IDE version of the Iomega Zip drive as Windows NT properly identifies it. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. The simplest way to tell the difference between the IDE and ATAPI versions
of the Zip drive is the fact that the IDE version works under Windows NT,
while the ATAPI version does not work without the hotfix. You can also
determine the type of Zip drive by examining the following registry key:
