SYMPTOMSIf you have persistent network connections for a server-based profile, you will be prompted for a password for the user that first created the profile. CAUSE
Windows NT 4.0 stores the User Credentials for the user that creates a
persistent connection to a drive.
RESOLUTION
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that
may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot
guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor
can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available. Additional query words: password server drive profiles
