"User Not Allowed to Log on at This Computer" Using C2CONFIG

SYMPTOMS

After you run C2CONFIG from the Windows NT 4.0 Resource Kit on an Windows NT domain controller, Windows 95 clients logging on to the Windows NT domain report the following error messages:

User not allowed to log on at this computer.
-or-
You are not allowed to log on from this workstation.
Event ID 533 is logged in the NT Security log. Users are able to log on to a Windows NT computer with the same account. The account is configured to allow logging on to all workstations.


CAUSE

The cause is undetermined at this time.


RESOLUTION

To correct the problem, delete the following key (which was added by C2CONFIG) from the registry:
