SYMPTOMSYour Domain Name System (DNS) service will not start, and it causes an access violation (AV) in DNS Manager. CAUSEZone files that are exact multiples of 4 KB in length will cause an access violation in DNS Manager. RESOLUTION
As a temporary workaround, you can add a comment to your zone file so that
its size is not a multiple of 4 KB.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. This problem was corrected in the latest Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 U.S. Service Pack.
