SYMPTOMS
This article discusses inconsistent behavior of Windows NT and Windows 95
Domain Name Service (DNS) resolvers with non-Microsoft multihomed DNS
servers, when these name servers send their responses from addresses
different from the one used to receive the query. This behavior is
described below:
MORE INFORMATION
RFC1035 states:
- Some name servers send their responses from different addresses than the one used to receive the query. That is, a resolver cannot rely that a response will come from the same address which it sent the corresponding query to. This name server bug is typically encountered in UNIX systems. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.51 and Windows 95. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
