CR Interpreted As CR/LF When Text Job Is Converted to PCL or PS

SYMPTOMS

When a print job is sent to Windows NT with a datatype of TEXT, the CR characters will be interpreted as CR/LF when the job is converted to PCL or PostScript. This may cause the printout to appear differently than expected.

This problem will usually affect print jobs that originate from a non-Windows application or system.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. For additional information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
