SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to add a counter in Performance Monitor on your Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS) Server, you may notice that Event Viewer logs the following event message in the application event log:

   Event ID : 1008
   Source : Perflib
Description: The Open Procedure for service "RasRad" in DLL "rasrad.dll"
failed. Performance data for this service will not be
available. Status code returned is DWORD 0.

CAUSE

Your RRAS Server was originally setup for only LAN Routing and Demand-Dial Routing.

For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys And Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it.

  1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe or Regedit.exe)and go to the following subkey:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasRad\Performance
