Error Message: An External Winnt Error Has Occurred

SYMPTOMS

When you configure Cheyenne Software's ARCserve Backup Agent service to start automatically at startup, the service may not start and the following message may appear in Event Viewer:

   Event ID: 2140
   An External Winnt Error has occurred 

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you are using Cheyenne Software's ARCserve Backup Agent for Windows NT version 1.02a build 14. The Ntagent.exe file included in this version has a date stamp of 8/20/97 or 10/1/97.

RESOLUTION
